An Adventure for My Soul

When I talk to people about adventure I quickly learn that it means something different to each individual. To me adventure is a complete experience that engages all of my senses. I’ve had an adventurous soul since I was young. In fifth grade I was finally able to conquer two epic school challenges that made me a true adventurer: Dead Man’s Bump and Suicide Hill. These were two hills behind McClure Elementary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Any brave soul that was able to bike from the top and make it to the bottom without disaster would become legend. I mastered that duo that year and it set me on a path of adventure that I still chase today at 57 years old.

Fifteen years ago I found Wonder Voyage and fell in love. Here was an organization full of individuals that spoke directly to my soul. They, like me, felt that life was a series of adventures just waiting to be had. I joined the team and now I explore, pioneer, and treasure hunt to my fill, which is deeply satisfying to my soul. From the mountains and wildlife of Alaska to the beautiful green landscape of Ireland, my Wonder Voyage experiences have confirmed my adventurous spirit. They have taught me that my approach to life as an adventure is a requirement if I am to be the person God designed me to be.

As Bilbo Baggins said, “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” I am eager to see where I am swept off to next with Wonder Voyage.
