Itinerary

Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.

Day 1 – Arrival
Welcome to Chicago. Weʼll be staying in “The Loop,” the historic center of downtown Chicago. Upon your arrival, your team will meet their director and get a crash course on using the L, the cityʼs elevated train, that will be our primary means of transportation for the week. Weʼll settle into our accommodations and take some time to explore the neighborhood, which includes Millennium Park and the Cloud Gate.

Day 2 – City Life
Our morning will bring us the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ by working with a local outreach. The afternoon presents something of a challenge for your team. Your group will head into Chinatown and have to shop for their evening meal in what can only be called a completely foreign market!

Day 3 – Sabbath
Today weʼll see something special at a unique Christian community that has been serving the people of Chicago since 1972. Then weʼll take the afternoon to explore some of the city, making sure we see some of the cityʼs unique sites. Our day will end with a special treat: a Cubʼs game at Wrigley Field.

Day 4 – Least of These
This morning we will explore a little of Chicago’s original west side. This primarily African- American neighborhood rose to its height in the 1960s and was burned to the ground by its residents after Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. Our path will also take us to the Chicago Conservatory, an oasis in the middle of the city.

Day 5 – Hunger
Today will be full of service and education. Later in the afternoon, we’ll head from our service project to help at a local food ministry feeding the homeless. It is a powerful way to witness the way our humble acts of service create far greater impact than we might guess. Our evening includes a dinner at one of the cityʼs many famous restaurants.

Day 6 – On Big Shoulders
For our final day in Chicago, we will venture out to the Field Museum of Natural History for a morning of wonder in one of the worldʼs most impressive museums. In the afternoon, your group will get some time to walk the Miracle Mile. We will end the night with a classic Chicago-style pizza feast.

Day 7 – Departure
Today we will pack up and say goodbye to a fantastic week of exploration, service and encounter. What will you take home with you? The voyage is now in fact just beginning and we pray that you carry fresh perspective and energy with you as you travel.
