"Each voyage includes unique Honduran dining, cultural exploration, and times of reflection..."
VOYAGE TYPE
  • Mission Opportunity

Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Comayagua is a small city situated 2.5 hours outside the capital of Honduras. Upon arrival you will be confronted by the contrast between the majesty of the natural surroundings and the harsh poverty that affects every aspect of Honduran society.

While in Honduras, your team has the opportunity to participate in work projects at local schools, feed impoverished children, deliver gifts to orphans, or work to help the elderly and those affected by AIDS. In addition, your team will go high into the mountains for prayer, praise and an adventurous team building experience. Each missions trip or pilgrimage includes unique Honduran dining, cultural exploration, and plenty of time for reflection on how each of us can be a voice for the poor in our own communities.  Register today for your Mission Trip to Honduras!

Itinerary

Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.

  • Day 1 – Arrival
Your team will fly into Tegucigalpa to find a world vastly different from your own. The capital of Honduras bustles with a frenetic energy that will quickly envelop our team. After a quick lunch, we will travel on winding roads to our home for the week, the town of Comayagua. After settling in and a brief orientation, we will take a stroll into the center of town and visit the famous Comayagua Cathedral.
  • Day 2 – Comayagua
The need for compassion is great in Honduras. We’ll begin our day with several possible avenues of service. How would you best like to serve others and follow in the footsteps of Christ? Would you like to serve at a local hospital? How about playing games at one of Comayagua’s large orphanages? How about teaching an ESL class to adults? The possibilities for service are numerous.
  • Day 3 – Mercy
Could you care for those who can do nothing for you in return? Today we’ll find out. We will work with an organization that cares for victims of AIDS, specifically single women and their children. Our mission today will be to assist these caregivers in whatever way possible. This is sure to be a memorable experience.
  • Day 4 – Forgotten by Time
Today will again thrust us into the culture of the Honduran people. The mountain villages that surround Comayagua are like little towns forgotten by time. Often these places have no electricity, flushing toilets or many of the amenities that we consider to be basic necessities. We’ll spend the day taking in the local life and assisting a local church or mission outreach with an ongoing project.
  • Day 5 – Shepherds and Flocks
God calls all of us into His service. Pastors in Honduras do not typically live the way American pastors do. Most of them are as poor as the community that they are shepherding. We will make and deliver basket of food to some of these pastors today as a way of sharing love with them. After lunch, we will travel to the Mayan ruins at Copan. This city of the ancient world will fill you with wonder.
  • Day 6 – Sabbath
Today your team will have the opportunity to explore more of Comayagua and do some souvenir shopping for friends and family back home. You’ll also be able to sample the local cuisine in whatever restaurant you choose. The first half the day is yours. In the afternoon, we’ll venture through the lush jungle to the Pulhapanzak waterfalls. This breathtaking place will provide an afternoon of swimming, amazing vistas and great adventure. In the evening we’ll share our final meal together and reminisce about our week together here in Honduras.
  • Day 7 – Departure
Reluctantly weʼll head back to Tegucigalpa to catch our flights home. At your convenience, you will pack up and say goodbye to a fantastic week of exploration, service and encounter. What will you take home with you? The voyage is now in fact just beginning and we pray that you carry fresh perspective and energy with you as you travel home.
