Romania is a country that evokes dark legends and mythic tales. Idyllic mountains, impressive fortresses and a history of invading armies becomes the foundation for a fascinating visit. Years of oppressive communism left Romania in shambles, but over the last few years, this nation of strong, independent and creative people has come back strong. Romania’s doors are open for discovery and its secrets are vast.

We start our Romanian Wonder Voyage at the heart of the nation: her people. Meeting locals and hearing their stories will give you the keys to understanding this little corner of the world. Transylvania will be our main stomping grounds where we will visit the rugged Carpathian Mountains, shadowed forests and, if you dare, one of Dracula’s castles. On your Romanian pilgrimage or missions trip you will discover both the might of history and the fervent faith of a people who walked with God even when there life was on the line.

Itinerary

Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.

  • Day 1 – Un Pod. (A Bridge)
For the first time you are heading to Romania to serve God by serving others. Our desire is to build a bridge of love and understanding. We land in neighboring Bucharest and bus our way to the border, crossing into the town of Arad, in Transylvania. After settling in and partaking of a delicious dinner, we prepare our hearts for an exciting week ahead. May the Lord meet us in wondrous ways as we seek His face in a foreign place.
  • Day 2- Sabat Română
There is no better way to connect with our Romanian brothers and sisters than to join them in worship. We will attend a special local church where the love of Christ is abundant, and the people of God are passionate in their pursuit of the Savior. After church we enjoy a meal and engage in a variety of activities to learn about the church and Christianity in Romania. There may even be a special time of castle raiding!
  • Day 3- Serving the Body
As we settle into a new culture, we take part of the day to learn by serving. We will work with a local church, one of eastern Europe’s most vibrant congregations. We learn about the church today and yesterday. We will take time to serve the congregation in practical ways. This evening the pastor will share his story of being in the Romanian Army on the day of Romania’s liberation from one of the world’s bloodiest dictators and how Christ changed his life.
  • Day 4: A Servi
This is a day of serving the local community near Arad. With joy in our hearts we give back to their community through the work of our hands and the love of Christ. Joining with youth from the host church, we focus on building relationships and community amongst the young people of Arad. This kind of open-hearted service is what separates pilgrims from tourists.
  • Day 5: Explore Transylvania
You have worked hard this week so today we give you the opportunity to explore one of the most interesting regions in Europe: Transylvania. The day is full of surprises and discoveries buried deep in the heart of the Romanian landscape. We want you to experience a culture, history and natural beauty only found in this part of the world.
  • Day 6 – Mystery Day
Today we have a few exploration surprises in store. This is a day of mystery where anything can happen. This evening, we celebrate with a delicious meal and spend time with our new friends.
  • Day 7 – Are You Hungary?
We say goodbye to our family in Arad and head back to Hungary. One last day of exploration in Budapest will do good for our souls. This is an extra bonus adventure after our Romanian voyage. Tonight, we will settle into our hotel near the airport, have a final evening meal together and Pass the Candle.
  • Day 8 – La Revedere, Prieteni
“Goodbye, Friends!” What an adventure we’ve had serving in a place so far away from home. During our time we have met strangers that we now know are our brothers and sisters in Christ. As we have served, we’ve learned about sacrifice, faithfulness and what it means to walk with Christ daily. As we return home, may we never forget to pray for our Romanian family.
