Travel Touchstone: Artifacts

Saint Paul reminds the Ephesians that Christ has ascended to fill all things, and tells the Colossians that everything is held together in Christ. So when I travel, I look for artifacts that remind me that Christ is all around me, whether I know it or not. I see Christ in a handmade cross, in the stones from the Holy Land, in the refreshing waters of a Meccan well, in an Orthodox icon, in funny misshapen statues, or in the smile of a Buddha figurine. In small relics that are serious and funny, or sacred and profane, I take reminders that the Risen Christ is with me on my Journey.
