In many ways, Kansas City reminds us of the idyllic American summer day. People go about their business, like hardworking bees among the numerous parks and boulevards. Refreshing water bubbles up from nearly 200 fountains, providing children with a cool retreat from the hot sun. The smells of world-famous barbecue linger in the clear air. Kansas City is a comforting city of industry, productivity and stability. It rests at the geographic and philosophic heart of America.
One does not have to travel far from their backyard, however, to see something disconcerting. The solid, modern, Midwestern facade cannot hide the deep-seated needs found in Kansas City. Unfortunately, like many large population centers, great wealth and great poverty coexist in sad abundance. Our missions trips and pilgrimages to Kansas City focus on those forced to the margins, those Christ calls “the Least of These.”

Itinerary
Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.
- Day 1 – The Straddling City
Your team has made the long journey across the plains of Kansas in search of a very different adventure. Where mountains were your normal backdrop, you now have need. This is a week in which you dedicate yourselves to serving others. As you commit a week to the cause of Christ, we are certain you will have some cool adventures along the way. Welcome to Kansas City, a city that straddles two states! - Day 2 – Fountains
We’ll start every morning at one of Kansas’s 200 fountains. As we examine the Scriptures we will find out what it truly means when Jesus says, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Our service time today will be outdoors, serving at the lakeside Nature Center and focusing on how creation sings of the Creators love for us. We will begin our quest for the giants looking for the giant spider of Kansas City. - Day 3 – Least of These
We continue our service by stocking, distributing and preparing food for a ministry that feeds the poorest of the poor in Kansas City. In the afternoon we continue our great search for giants by looking for a 20′ needle in a haystack. And tonight you will try your hand at Stone Soup. - Day 4 – Wanna Be a Farmer?
“Gleaning” is not a word most people think about in a modern context, but it is an important ministry to those in need of food. Today you will harvest for families in need in the Kansas area. If you’ve ever wanted to be a farmer, you’ll get your chance today. We also seek a really big iron and possibly the biggest dead catfish in the world. We’ll end the day with an evening meal served near a train. - Day 5 – The Harvest is Ripe
Today we work on the next step of bringing food and hope to those in desperate need. We will ask for a challenging job that helps to reach many people. After our service time we continue on our quest to find an entire city block of giant books. We cap off the evening with some great BBQ and a trip to a mystery location. - Day 6 – A Visit to the Ocean
The biggest fountain in in KC, Oceans of Fun, is our destination of choice. You have earned it this week. Water, waves, sun and fun will be our hard work we accomplish today. In the evening, we’ll eat at a T-Rex-sized restaurant and finish the evening with Pass the Candle. - Day 7 – Homeward Bound
As you head back to the Rockies you will have much to think about. You have encountered Jesus as the well-spring of life and served Him in multiple ways around Kansas City. Your city needs fountains of hope. As you return home, remember that the one who called Himself Living Water now dwells in you.
