Itinerary
Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.
- Day 1 – Welcome to Utah
Get out your cameras! This week will be filled with shots of red rock formations, breathtaking canyons, picturesque scenery and unforgettable moments. As we embark on our journey in several points on the compass as we take in the views of this spectacular state. The drives alone will keep you in awe. Once settled into our home base near a national park, we do some exploring before gathering to discuss our first impressions of the land and our expectations for the week ahead. - Day 2 – Exposure
In photography, exposure is the reactive effect that light has on film. This week exposes God, our Creator, to us. What will our reaction to that be? A hike amongst the beautiful sandstone formations of Canyonlands National Park will bring us to a place of quiet contemplation of our purpose for this journey. Our evenings allow us time to process the day in group discussion and close with prayer. - Day 3 – Focus
One of the many purposes for pilgrimage is to remove us from the countless distractions at home. Today we get an enlarged look at the ancient sculptures of Arches National Park with a remarkable sunrise hike through the geological formations in a hidden area of the park. How is your focus? Is it sharp, or still a little soft? As we close our evening, write down anything that you feel is still blurring our purpose for pilgrimage. - Day 4 – Saturation
A short drive north takes us to an experience full of adrenaline pumping moments – white water rafting. The panorama is saturated with varying hues of layered rock walls, foliage-capped plateaus and the boundless sky above. Doused in exhilarating rapids reminds us that God has bathed us in His love and attention. We transfer in the afternoon to Salt Lake City for the second leg of the journey. - Day 5 – Contrast
A short distance from Salt Lake City are a multitude of lake loops, crisp evergreens, and rugged peaks. Nestled in Big Cottonwood Canyon is an easy hike to Donut Falls. After exploring the falls, we continue on to the breathtaking views that surround a series of alpine lakes. The contrast of the green foliage, crystal blue lakes, and cool grey mountains fill our lens for the day and provide a perfect landscape for quiet reflection and prayer. - Day 6 – Aperture
Aperture refers to the size of the lens opening that allows light through when a photo is taken – a larger aperture lets more light through, a smaller, less. Today we open our hearts to the people of Salt Lake City, a place in need of resources, guidance and love. May God’s light come through today. In the afternoon we trek to the top of Ensign Peak to get a panorama of the surrounding city. In the evening, we cap off a week of adventure and discovery with our celebration dinner. - Day 7 – Farewell
Our final day in Utah will bring the opportunity to see what makes the city distinct. Wrapping up our time together, we pass the candle to commemorate the voyage. As we prepare our hearts for the journey home, may we remember that this life is a beautiful journey, and may we explore this world through the lens of faith.
