25 Years of Summer Adventures: Key Stats and Trends from Wonder Voyage

Celebrating Wonder Voyage's 25th year of summer adventures

As we close the books on our 25th year of summer adventures, this article will celebrate our key stats and trends while taking a deep dive into the people behind the scenes that make Wonder Voyage work.

Let’s start with our unique crew of Voyage Coordinators.

Voyage Coordinators

In 2024, we incorporated a team of 11 Voyage Coordinators (VCs) under the direction of Senior Voyage Coordinator Molly Wren. Our VCs are experts in different regions and thoroughly trained to create a personalized experience for each team. They walk with the Team Leader (TL) through our prospectus process months in advance, focusing on the needs and DNA of each community. Whether it’s a church, school, or adult team, our VCs capture the heart of the narrative that your group will experience during their trip.

37 Personalized Summer Adventures

This year, Wonder Voyage led 37 personalized pilgrimages around the globe. And when we say personalized, we mean it! Wonder Voyage is not another cookie-cutter tour company. We are experts in pilgrimage and travel details, but our heart is in being doorkeepers of wonder. Most of our groups have a 9-month lead between signing the agreement and having their boots in the location. Often, groups fall in love with a place and return for a deeper investment in the community.

Voyage Guides

Twenty Voyage Guides (VGs) led teams on the ground in 2024. Our average VG has been with us for at least a decade and has logged over 4,000 hours leading trips. They are thoroughly vetted and trained. The average training time for a new guide is two to three years. As we seek to grow our VG community, we created an application for those interested in learning more.

I contacted one of our newest VGs, David Boyd, to find out why he joined this growing community. Like many others, David started his Wonder Voyage journey as a client, experienced wonder for himself, and asked how to get more involved. He said that being able to facilitate moments of wonder in others enlivened his heart. David’s dream trip is to bring a team back to the Camino, which was a life-changing experience for him.

Locations For Our Summer Adventures

Did you know that Wonder Voyage has trips scouted to all 50 states and within 300 miles of every location in the Continental United States? That’s a lot of options! In 2024, we led 500 pilgrims on trips to 11 states and 20 countries. When we add those to our 25-year total, we’ve led over 350 organizations on 765 Wonder Voyages with 14,000 participants who served $7 million in volunteer hours.

Sizing Up Wonder Voyage Trips

Our largest Wonder Voyage this year had 43 participants who went to Navajoland, and our smallest trip, with five people, went to Rhode Island. Since a pilgrimage has to have a minimum of nine participants for it to be cost-efficient, we offer smaller groups the opportunity to combine their journeys with another team. The office can help pair you with a great group.

New Locations

In 2024, Wonder Voyage pioneered 12 locations! That’s a Wonder Voyage single-year record. These locations include:

Though we have established voyages worldwide, we LOVE pioneering new and bold locations. If you have a destination you are interested in checking out that we don’t currently offer, we encourage you to let us know so we can customize your experience.
