50 States of Wonder: Your Ticket to an Unforgettable Road Trip

COVID-19 put a damper on a lot of people’s travel plans, but it also gave our staff the opportunity to think about pilgrimage outside the box. Using our vast network of churches and organizations within the US, we tackled a monumental initiative: 50 States of Wonder.

What is 50 States of Wonder?

Wonder Voyage now offers at least one unique pilgrimage destination in each of the 50 states and within 6 hours of driving from anywhere within the US.

What can I expect from these pilgrimages?

Our Voyage Coordinators worked hard to ensure every location has:

  • interesting and affordable housing,
  • opportunities to experience wonder,
  • historical significance,
  • a small business focus to help invest in the communities, and
  • 6-8 days of activities available.

In addition, 70% of the destinations have mission opportunities.

Does Wonder Voyage offer shorter adventures?

Using these 50 States of Wonder, our team is developing 3-day “Experience Wonder Retreats” for schools, weekend thrill-seekers, history buffs, urban adventurers, weekend mission trippers, or to prepare your team for a longer pilgrimage.

Is Wonder Voyage still traveling overseas?

We are closely monitoring all travel guidelines. Currently, 60% of 2021 pilgrimages are scheduled for overseas including maiden voyages to Morocco, Malta, and Argentina. The 50 States of Wonder are simply an addition to the current pilgrimage destinations for those who wish to stay in the States.

When are these trips available?

Executive Director Shawn Small shared his experience leading an Adult Journeys group to Montana in August. Wonder Voyage is booking now for trips this year and in 2021.

Are there any booking bonuses?

An extra adventure activity will be added to each trip for first-timers.
