Kenya is Calling: Legacy and Boundless Expeditions Join Forces

Legacy Voyages is joining forces with Boundless Expeditions to travel to Kenya in November 2022. The team will serve Ndoto before embarking on the safari adventure of a lifetime.

What is Ndoto?

In 2009, Allison Slack founded Ndoto: For Africa’s Future to empower people in the slum areas of Kisumu, Kenya. Allison had lived and served in the area during her postgraduate years, and she wanted to help the people pursue their dreams without stripping them of their dignity and survival skills. Through economic and educational development, Ndoto, which means “dream” in Kiswahili, is gifting a generation of young Kenyans with hope and a future. On this special trip, our Legacy Voyages and Boundless Expeditions communities are joining forces.

The first part of our voyage allows us to engage in the Ndoto community, learn from them, and bring a gift they desperately need to move forward in their mission: a school. This April, the school will begin with a preschool, a Pre-k, and a Kindergarten class, adding a new grade each year. Legacy Advocates are raising funds to equip the students with a computer lab.

Legacy is raising $10,000 for the Ndoto computer lab. If we surpass that goal, additional funding will go towards air conditioning ($900), a projector ($600), a projector screen ($250), a printer ($500), and educational software ($390). Boundless Expedition community members are encouraged to give toward the project as well.

What is the adventure?

The second half of the journey is a radically different adventure as we head south to the Mara Masai for a Boundless Expedition safari. For three days, we will search for Africa’s “big five” in their natural habitat: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and Cape buffalo, while enjoying a luxury camp in the evenings. This is the type of voyage that will ruin zoo visits for the rest of your life.
