A Sacred Partnership: Wonder Voyage and An Tobar Nua Celebrate Faith-Based Travel to Ireland

A Journey of Faith, Friendship, and Service in Ireland

For over two decades, one of Wonder Voyage’s most cherished destinations for faith-based travel has been the West of Ireland, where a small yet powerful ministryAn Tobar Nua, continues to impact lives in remarkable ways.

At the end of the school year, a Wonder Voyage team visited Galway, where An Tobar Nua is based. Their heartfelt hospitality and mission-driven community always leave our pilgrims deeply inspired — and this trip was no exception. According to our team, the visit to An Tobar Nua was a top highlight of their entire Irish pilgrimage.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Vision

Our connection with An Tobar Nua dates back to 2001, when Wonder Voyage Executive Director Shawn Small met co-founder Kelly. Since then, we’ve brought countless teams to this sacred space — to pray, to serve, and to learn.

As Shawn reflects, “Of the over 450 organizations I’ve worked with worldwide, An Tobar Nua is one of the most unique and compelling works for the kingdom I’ve ever participated in.”

Shawn’s deep appreciation for An Tobar Nua led him to write a book about its origins and mission. An Tobar Nua – The New Well is the story of how God used two ordinary people, Kelly and Susan, to birth an extraordinary ministry in Ireland — one that now touches students, travelers, locals, and pilgrims from around the globe.

Shawn said, “I recommend this book to anyone who loves Ireland, feels empty in their success, doubts their call, or wonders how God might use their life.”

You can find the book here, and we highly recommend it for those who want a deeper look into the power of missions done through faith-based travel to Ireland.

Pilgrimage That Becomes Partnership

What makes our relationship with An Tobar Nua so powerful is that it’s not just a destination on a map — it’s a shared story. When our teams visit, they’re stepping into something more profound than sightseeing. They become part of a legacy of service, prayer, and spiritual formation.

This kind of impact is why we do what we do at Wonder Voyage. And it’s why we’ll continue to bring teams to An Tobar Nua.
