Itinerary

Every Wonder Voyage itinerary (mission trip and/or pilgrimage) is personalized to the desires, direction and personality of each group. This itinerary is only a description of the kind of journey we can create for your unique team.

Day 1 – Welina Mai i Hawaiʻi
Welina mai i Hawaiʻi (Welcome to Hawaii)! Your team has launched out deep into the Pacific Ocean to a place both familiar and exotic. It’s easy to understand why Hawaii has become synonymous with paradise: perfect beaches, rainbow coral reefs, and steaming volcanoes beckon adventurous spirits. We take our exploration to a deeper place as we explore the intersection of sacrifice, healing from colonialism, and the wonder of creation. Welcome to Oahu!

Day 2 – He Hele Wāwae Nani
Oʻahu overwhelms your senses with tropical aromas, ideal temperatures, turquoise waters, verdant rainforest, and sensuous scenery. This morning, we focus on one of the many amazing hikes throughout the island (He hele wāwae nani—a beautiful hike). In the afternoon, we visit Bishop Museum to immerse ourselves in Hawaiʻi’s rich culture and heritage at the state’s premier natural and cultural history museum. We begin the first of three nights of our Stone Soup competition tonight.

Day 3 – Sābati Kahakai
This Sunday, we celebrate a Sābati Kahakai (Beach Sabbath) at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, where the Eucharist will be in English and Hawaiian. After a local lunch, we will enjoy a chill afternoon at one of Oahu’s magnificent beaches, an ideal way to relax before continuing with our Stone Soup competition.

Day 4 – Mohai
Let’s reflect on mohai (sacrifice): what we must give up to strive for justice, what we have to sacrifice to respect the dignity of another human being, and how we challenge ourselves to find Christ in others. We will put these discussions to the test as we give an afternoon to serving the locals through practical acts of sacrifice before enjoying our final Stone Soup meal.

Day 5 – Luau
It’s King Kamehameha and Queen Emma Day! Along with our adventures, we will learn their story and how they were vital to bringing the Christian faith to the Hawaiian islands. We’ll hike, explore Honolulu, and celebrate the evening with a traditional Luau on Waikiki Beach.

Day 6 – Hoʻolauleʻa Heʻenalu
We will celebrate Hawaii by trying out the worldwide sport developed on these islands: surfing.  Can you hang 10?  We’ll feast at the famous North Shore food trucks before more beach time.  We’ll end the day with a celebration dinner and a sacred time to Pass the Candle.

Day 7 – Mahalo
You have experienced our 50th state and a national treasure. Hawaii is filled with wonder and kindness, and we know you will carry the Hawaiian word MAHALO (gratitude) in your heart for the rest of your lives. We leave saying the traditional Hawaiian prayer: Hoóponopono (I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you.)
