Philanthropic Travel Projects: Legacy Voyages 2025

Legacy Voyages is the branch of Wonder Voyage that connects business people with philanthropic travel projects. This year, Legacy has three exciting opportunities:

This article will dive into each of these opportunities and how you can be involved.

Philanthropic Travel With Legacy Voyages: How It Started

Business man covered in sticky notesMy husband, Brent Richardson, and I have been involved with Wonder Voyage for over twenty years. When he returned from leading a pilgrimage, he often shared stories about the projects the team completed and the people who were directly impacted. We frequently found ourselves financially supporting these non-profits long after the trip.

After one such pilgrimage, we started wondering how many other business professionals may share our desire to give back but lack the connections to be able to connect with worthwhile projects. It seems like, too often, charities take a large chunk of every donation to cover salaries and overhead. How do you know who you can trust?

This led to more questions, like:

  • What if we could create a non-profit that thoroughly vetted global projects to remove the guesswork for philanthropists?
  • What if we could eliminate the overhead so the money could go straight to the project?
  • What if projects invited business people to visit the location, see where their money went, and enjoy a culturally immersive experience?

Soon, Legacy Voyages was born.

What Are The Core Values Of Legacy Voyages?

Many business professionals fall into the trap of steadily working the 9-to-5 but with no purpose other than receiving a paycheck. People long for more.

Our goal is to give professionals a purpose in their day-to-day. When you know that the paycheck is making a positive change in the world around you, the daily grind doesn’t feel, well, quite so much like a grind.

To help with that, Legacy Voyages focuses on:

  • Vetted non-profits: We are selective about the non-profits we work with. The leadership has to have a long track record of consistently doing good for their community.
  • Vetted projects: All Legacy projects must be long-term opportunities to “do good” for the community.
  • No overhead: All Legacy leaders are volunteers, which means the money donated goes straight to the project.
  • Cultural immersion: Since we know the areas we serve, we provide cultural experiences that are often bucket-list worthy. For example, we have had teams conquer Machu Picchu, enjoy a 5-star safari complete with a hot air balloon ride, and spend a weekend on a deserted island in Belize.
  • Doing good: Our travelers are from all faiths and backgrounds.
  • Tax friendly: Legacy falls under the umbrella of Wonder Voyage’s 501c3, which means all projects and project-related trips are tax deductible.
